Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, the wife of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

According to Mrs Mahama, the visit was to inform the royal family of her intention to campaign in Asanteman and seek their blessings for her husband, John Mahama.

“As we all know, my husband, your son, John Mahama, is contesting for the presidency in December.”

“I always feel at home every time I visit Manhyia, as Asantehemaa has been like a mother to me,” she noted, emphasising the importance of seeking blessings from the royal family before engaging with stakeholders in the Ashanti Region.

Nana Asantehemaa reciprocated Mrs Mahama’s sentiments, expressing happiness for the visit and offering prayers for God’s guidance in the forthcoming elections. She acknowledged the competitive nature of the electoral process and added that she hopes Ghana will elect the right leader.

Following her meeting with the Asantehemaa, Mrs Mahama held a closed-door meeting with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to seek his blessings and permission as she prepared for her outreach.

Accompanying the former First Lady were the NDC Regional Chairman, Nana Kwasi Andrew; the former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu; the Deputy Director of Communications, Obuobia Darko-Opoku; the former Deputy Defence Minister, Kenneth Adjei; members of the regional women’s wing; and parliamentary candidates from the Ashanti region.
