The incumbent MP, for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan has retained her seat. This is the sixth time the NPP has won that particular seat under the fourth republic.
After almost fifteen hours of collation, Madam Alhassan polled, 39,851 votes, with the NDC Parliamentary Candidate John Dumelo, polling 37,778 votes, the PNC had 160 votes and an independent candidate Richard MawuliAmegatse got 108.
A total of 78,199 voters cast their ballot. Madam Lydia Alhassan expressed gratitude to her constituents for the honour done her and promised to continue to support her people whom she represents.
She said she will still continue the legacy of her late husband, Emmanuel kyeremanteng Agyarko the former MP for the area, by bringing more development to the area.
The NDC Constituency Chairman for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Bismark Aborbi-Ayittey said they will not accept the results, arguing that the EC did not involve them in the collation.
He said there were two other two polling stations the officials were supposed to add, but they refused even after complaining to them.
He said they will consult the legal team of the party and take necessary legal actions.
