Lawyer for embattled Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has welcomed news of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng to discontinue the case of using public office for private funds.
Mr. Agyabeng told journalists that he dropped the case in which the Bawku Central MP and 6 others were accused of breaching procurement processes in the purchase of some ambulances for his Constituency and tax evasion in the importation of some luxurious vehicles, citing waste of the State’s time and no case to answer. Speaking to GBC News, Mr. Tamakloe said the Special Prosecutor has exercised good judgement by entering a nolle prosequi to end the case which was started by the former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
He, however, stressed that he was the least surprised about the outcome of the case because there is enough evidence to prove that Mr. Ayariga used the MP’s car loan to buy the ambulances in contention for his constituency.
Meanwhile, reports say Mr Ayariga is elated that the Special Prosecutor dropped all charges that were preferred against him.
