John Dramani Mahama, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), suspended his campaign on Sunday to join leaders from the Ghana Pentecostal & Charismatic Council, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, and the National Association of Charismatic Christian Churches for the launch of a National Peace Campaign.

Emphasizing that “peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, fairness, and mutual respect,” Mr. Mahama called for a proactive commitment to these values, particularly as tensions persist across the nation.

He highlighted the importance of justice in achieving true peace, urging Ghanaians to work toward a society where everyone feels secure and respected.

Reflecting on conflicts such as the ongoing violence in Bawku, The NDC Presidential Candidate underscored the need for early intervention to prevent tragedies.

“We must pursue a just society where every Ghanaian feels valued,” he stated, pledging that the NDC will continue to be “the voice of the voiceless” and advocate for peace anchored in justice.

Mr. John Mahama further committed the NDC to upholding the principles of dialogue, respect, and equity, standing in solidarity with all Ghanaians dedicated to creating a peaceful and just nation.
