John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is on a two-day tour of the Savannah Region as part of his ‘Resetting Ghana’ campaign.

During his stop in Abromase, Salaga South, he pledged to bring development to the area through new infrastructure projects, including roads and the creation of new districts.

Mahama, addressing a durbar of chiefs and residents, emphasized that the creation of new districts will decentralise governance and accelerate development in underserved areas.

The tour marks Mr. Mahama’s return to his home region after concluding a two-day campaign in the North East Region.

Throughout the tour, he continues to urge voters to remain hopeful for a better Ghana under his leadership by 2025, highlighting his vision for a 24-hour economy.

This plan is aimed at addressing unemployment, particularly among the youth, through increased job opportunities.

Mr. Mahama’s arrival in the region was met with enthusiastic celebrations.

After nearly nine hours crossing the Volta Lake by pontoon, he was greeted by residents and NDC supporters with songs and dancing, signaling their optimism that his leadership would relieve their economic hardships.

In his speech at Abromase, Mahama questioned the current government’s claims of road construction, pointing to the deplorable state of the roads in the region. He assured the community that, once elected, he would prioritize completing the road network to facilitate better transportation and connectivity.

Additionally, Mr. Mahama announced plans to create new districts based on the recent census conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service. He argued that this restructuring would enhance local governance and improve the delivery of services to communities, ensuring they have greater representation and resources.

Addressing concerns about security, the NDC Flagbearer reassured the people that safeguarding lives and property would be a key priority under his administration, a responsibility he feels the current government has failed to uphold.
