President Mahama submits third batch of Ministerial and Regional nominations

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted a new set of ministerial and regional appointments to Parliament for approval. The nominations, announced on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, are part of his ongoing efforts to assemble a robust team to drive his administration’s agenda.

Puozuing Charles Lwanga has been nominated as the Regional Minister for the Upper West Region, while Joseph Addae Akwaboa and Francis Owusu Antwi have been selected to serve as Regional Ministers for Bono and Bono East, respectively.

For ministerial roles, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has been nominated for the Ministry of Defence, with Samuel Nartey George taking on the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has been named for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, while Kofi Iddie Adams is set to lead the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo has been nominated as the Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment, with Kwabena Mintah Akandoh named for the Ministry of Health. Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed has been selected for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, while Joseph Bukari Nikpe is expected to lead the Ministry of Transport.

Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have been nominated to head the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, respectively. Adjei Kenneth Gilbert has been named for the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

In addition to these, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum has been appointed as Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives, Felix Kwakye Ofosu as Minister of State for Government Communications, and Issifu Seidu as Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability.

The appointments, which require parliamentary approval, reflect the President’s commitment to bringing experienced and capable individuals into his government to achieve its goals.
