At a compelling youth manifesto launch at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), John Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), presented a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at revolutionizing Ghana’s approach to youth development and economic growth.

In his address, Mr. Mahama announced that the NDC plans to collaborate with religious organizations to offer vocational and technical skills training across the nation. This partnership is designed to harness the extensive networks of religious bodies, providing much-needed skills development to underserved communities and enhancing employment prospects for young Ghanaians.

A key feature of the manifesto is the deployment of free Wi-Fi services in schools and selected public places. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by improving access to online educational resources and fostering greater connectivity throughout the country. The NDC’s commitment to digital inclusion reflects a broader strategy to support both educational and economic advancement.

In a bold step to invigorate the economy, the NDC proposes a 3-hour business operation system within a 24-hour economic framework. This innovative approach is intended to boost economic activity, enhance productivity, and create new job opportunities by optimizing business hours and maximizing resource use.

Mahama underscored the party’s commitment to youth employment, revealing plans for a dedicated Youth Development Ministry. This new ministry will be tasked with driving job creation and supporting entrepreneurship among young people. The initiative aims to provide targeted support for youth-led startups and foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The concept of a 24-hour economy, first introduced in 2017, will be central to the NDC’s economic strategy. By creating a dynamic, round-the-clock business environment, the NDC hopes to drive growth, innovation, and resilience in Ghana’s economy.

John Mahama’s speech at the UPSA highlighted a vision of inclusivity and progress, with a clear focus on empowering young people and stimulating economic development.

The NDC’s youth manifesto promises a forward-looking agenda, designed to address the pressing needs of Ghana’s youth and foster a thriving, modern economy.
