The Presidential Candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has appealed to the State security personnel, media practitioners, and all persons accredited to take part in the Special Voting on Monday, December 2, to vote for him to begin the change process.
He said, having experienced the difficult socio-economic circumstances caused by the Nana Akufo-Addo and the Dr. Bawumia government, the early voters owe themselves and their families an obligation to kick-start the wind of change by voting for him and all NDC Parliamentary Candidates for a better tomorrow.
Mr. Mahama said this in Kumasi while addressing members and party faithful after a Campaign.
The Kumasi Campaign Walk forms part of the NDC’s campaign strategies in the Ashanti region to boost the party’s votes in the Ashanti region during next week’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Thousands of members and sympathisers of the NDC, mainly in part of the Kumasi Metropolis, participated in the event amidst excitement from the Aboabo Post Office through Asawase, Manhyia, Allabar, Roman Hill, Central Market, through Adum, the Asafo Interchange, Labour Roundabout before ending at the Jubilee Park.
Among the participants were the leadership of the party from the ward through Constituency, Regional to National including key campaign officials.
The Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, expressed the hope that the NDC would win the Presidential and Parliamentary elections scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024, but advised NDC members and sympathisers not to “lose their guard”.
He pleaded with the leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ghana to see the election as a duty to God and society and encourage their members to spare part of their time on Saturday to exercise their franchise before attending Church.
Mr. Mahama noted that, with their population, their abstinence from voting could affect the outcome, which may not be positive for Ghana’s progress.
The MP assured that the NDC has plans to enact a new law that will perpetually make any new voting day suitable for every religious group in the country if they win the elections on Saturday.
The NDC’s Presidential Candidate, expressed pleasant surprise at the turnout at the campaign walk. Concerning tomorrow’s early voting for categorised persons in the country ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections, the NDC’s Flagbearer reminded state security personnel, media practitioners, and all who will be taking part to remember the difficult socio-economic situation in the country to vote for him to start the change process.
Mr. Mahama, described as propaganda, communication claiming that, Ethiopia Airlines will begin commercial flight to and from the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi this month.
According to him, the purported flight is one chartered for private interest and not an indication that the official commencement of international commercial flight is starting on the said date.
Mr. Mahama has described the communication by government sources as one of the many deceptions by the government and the ruling party to sway votes in the Ashanti region and warned the residents not to fall for it.
Touching on his plans if he wins the upcoming elections, the NDC’s Presidential Candidate assured particularly the business community of Kumasi that he will set aside five different banks specifically to provide financial assistance for importers to clear their goods at the port to avoid incurring demurrage.
Additionally, his government, in collaboration with the Central Bank, will guarantee a flat rate in imports to allow for proper planning by the importers and other stakeholders.
Mr. Mahama expressed optimism about winning the presidential polls and assured the party that enough logistical and financial resources have been mobilised to motivate them to be vigilant during the election so as to secure victory.
He appealed to voters to avoid the urge to vote ‘skirt and blouse’ since that could be detrimental to the interest of the NDC if they win the polls.
