The Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, has hinted that Cabinet has given approval for Ministers and political appointees heading State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to contribute 30 percent of their salaries from April to December 2022 to the Consolidated Fund.

Mr. Ofori-Atta, who disclosed this on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at a press briefing in Accra, commended the Council of State in their leadership in complimenting the government on this policy.

According to him, the measure, which forms part of other measures taken by the Nana Addo-Bawumia led government, will help to generate revenue internally to help run the country’s economy, which is aimed at restoring the economy to the pre-COVID-19 era.

He explained further that as part of the new measures to ensure prudent use of the country’s limited resources, the government will “priorities ongoing public projects over new projects.”

In his view, the decision to prioritise ongoing public projects over new projects will “enhance the efficient use of limited public funds over the period by finishing ongoing or stalled but approved projects.
