The NDC Caucus in Parliament has assured Ghanaians that it will continue to use every legitimate and lawful channel to resist the 1.75% E-Levy Government is seeking to impose.

The position of the NDC Caucus in Parliament, according to a statement in Accra, has been that the 1.75% E-Levy Government seeks to impose is regressive, punitive and draconian and must be suspended.

The statement signed by the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak said subsequent to the rejection of the Budget on November 26, Government sought to engage the NDC Caucus in a series of discussions towards finding an amicable solution to the impasse.

Surprisingly, despite the good faith demonstrated by the NDC Team in recognition of the importance of the Budget to the economy, businesses and households, Government’s side outrightly rejected the Minority proposal for a revision of the E-levy leading to a breakdown of the discussions.

According to the statement, no concrete decision or agreement has been reached between the Government and the NDC Caucus in Parliament on the matter.

Under the circumstances, the Minority says it will continue to maintain its original position.
