Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has insisted that his hands are clean in the leaked audio recording where he is heard championing violence.
Breaking his silence on the leaked audio which went viral in the course of the week, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said he never spoke against anybody.
During the week, social media was awashed with an audio recording in which the NDC Chair is heard outlining plans to fight vigilante groups aligned to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2020 elections.
He is also allegedly heard talking about kidnappings and attacks on the EC and the Peace Council bosses.
The NDC Chairman has since been heavily criticized with many demanding his immediate resignation. But addressing party supporters at a health walk organised by the NDC today, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said there is no evidence of wrong doing against him adding that the NDC will remain focused on what needs to be done to win the 2020 elections.
Also present was former President John Dramani Mahama who was last week elected as the Party’s candidate for the 2020 elections.
Addressing the supporters, Mr Mahama said the leaked audio is an attempt by the NPP to divert attention.
