The Northern Regional branch of the NDC has appealed to the Peace Council in the region to intervene to address the tension between them and the NPP in the Karaga constituency.
Clashes between the two Parties in the region yesterday, left at least four people with machete wounds.
According to the Northern Regional Police Command, two men, who were attending an NDC rally at Sung near Karaga, were assaulted. On the same day, some men believed to be NPP sympathizers were also attacked in Karaga town, while another young man resting under an NDC party pavilion was stabbed.
One person has since been arrested, questioned and released. Even though calm has returned to the area, the NDC at a Press Conference in Tamale yesterday, called on the Peace Council to intervene to prevent further clashes.
The Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mohammed Abdul Salam, noted that, Karaga has been peaceful until recently.
