The Professionals Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for Alban Bagbin’s retention as Speaker of Parliament in the upcoming ninth Parliament.
The group believes that Bagbin’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Parliament and upholding the core values of the NDC.
Speaking at an honorary ceremony in Parliament on Saturday, the Forum’s President, Sam Pee Yalley, highlighted Bagbin’s dedication to building strong parliamentary institutions and his role as a crucial link between the NDC and Parliament.
“For those who work closely with you, you are not just the Speaker of Parliament, but a representation of the NDC’s spirit. You have always emphasized the need for strong institutions like Parliament,” Yalley said.
He further urged NDC Members of Parliament not to make the mistake of replacing Bagbin, emphasizing that the decision is not just political but backed by research and public opinion.
According to Yalley, Bagbin’s leadership will be even more critical in managing the challenges of a closely balanced Parliament.
The Forum assured Bagbin of their unwavering support and trust in his ability to lead effectively in the next Parliament.
