The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has settled on 13th May, 2023 as the date for both the Presidential and Parliamentary primaries ahead of the 2024 elections.
The News Conference which was addressed by the Party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey said nominations will be opened from February 22 to 24, 2023, and the filling of the nomination forms will take place between 20th and 22nd March, 2023.
According to him, the vetting of the potential candidates will take place from 27th to 29th March 2023.
Appeals : 30th March to 6th April, 2023
Elections: 13th May.
The forms for the Parliamentary cost GHc5,000.00 whereas the Presidential is pegged at GHc30,000.00.
The parliamentary filing fees are GH40,000.00 (non-refundable) for males and GH20,000.00 for females and persons with disabilities.
The Presidential hopefuls are to pay a non-refundable fee of GH500,000.00, and “the Parliamentary and Presidential primaries will be conducted simultaneously across the 276 constituencies in the country”.
The additional Constituency according to the Party is SALL (Satrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi, Likpe) in the Oti Region.
The timetable includes guidelines for the conduct of the elections as well as who qualified under the party constitution and the Republic of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
The party used the opportunity to warn party officers not to use party structures as recognized by the Constitution to either campaign or endorse any of the aspirants before and during primaries.
