The largest opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has written to Ghana’s electoral management body, the Electoral Commission, asking for an emergency meeting to discuss concerns emerging from the ongoing voters’ exhibition exercise.

A letter signed by the NDC’s General Secretary, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, noted that the meeting is to discuss “very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise.”

The party says an analysis of the provisional voter register reveals many discrepancies that need urgent attention.

The exercise commenced nationwide on Tuesday, August 20, and is expected to end on Tuesday, August 27.

Below is the NDC’s letter:

REQUEST FOR AN IMPORTANT EMERGENCY MEETING WITH YOUR TEAM OVER THE 2024 VOTER EXHIBITION EXERCISE

We bring you greetings from the NDC Party Headquarters, Accra, and trust that this letter finds you well.

We write to request an important emergency meeting with you and your team to discuss very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise. The discrepancies emanate from analysis of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) given to us by the Commission, and registers being exhibited at the centres.

We anticipate a favourable and timely response as we work towards free, fair and transparent elections
