The number of first-time voters, whose names have been captured onto the new Voters Register, constitutes 8.1 percent of the total number of Registered Voters.
This was made known by the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Jean Mensa in Accra at its weekly “Let the Citizen Know Series”.
Madam Mensa told the media that more than 60 percent of those who registered used the Ghana card as a form of identification.
She said the facial recognition technology is embedded in the cameras that took pictures of applicants during the registration and will be used to verify those whose fingerprints could not be captured.
