Political Scientist, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante is entreating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to investigate all allegations of misconduct uncovered during the Special Electoral College Election, which took place on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
In an interview, he said issues such as showing a ballot paper to indicate one’s line of vote are in violation of the secrecy of the ballot, and this is critical to the polls and, by extension, democracy.
”The party must investigate and punish people who violated the process.”
“This type of allegation must be investigated and nipped in the bud’. We do not want that at all,” Dr. Asah-Asante posited.
On the matter where Presidential Hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has been summoned before the Disciplinary Committee of the Party to provide responses and further details to the accusations and threats he made against certain personalities in a video that has since gone viral on social media and mainstream media, Dr. Asah-Asante said the issue must be handled with tact so as not to humiliate the Candidate nor mar the democratic process.
