Clashes between the NDC and NPP over the Voter Registration in Banda in the Bono Region have claimed one life.

The deceased died at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital from wounds sustained from stabbing by alleged NPP thugs, who stopped the bus he was traveling on from Kabronum to Banda Ahenkro.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Bono Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong, said Police investigations are ongoing to arrest the culprits.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, says the pockets of political violence being reported, especially at the registration centers and other places must be viewed as isolated incidents.

He said the anti-vigilantism law, as well as other laws must be enforced to the letter to stop some of these needless disagreements.

He said the Council holds the main parties, the NDC and NPP to their word to abide by the ‘peace accord’ they signed with the Council.

Most Reverend Prof. Asante asked the Police to act on these reported incidents without fear of favour.
