The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and stability before, during, and after the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking on behalf of the party on December 4, 2024, on the GTV breakfast show, Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah assured Ghanaians that the NPP remains dedicated to upholding democracy and safeguarding the nation’s peace.
“We want to assure all Ghanaians that the NPP will not engage in any acts that could destabilise the country or disturb its peace during the electoral process,” Mr. Ahiagbah stated. He emphasised that the party’s adherence to the recently signed peace pact demonstrates its unwavering commitment to Ghana’s stability.
Mr. Ahiagbah further highlighted the NPP’s track record as a party that has played a key role in nurturing and protecting Ghana’s democracy. “Our forebears were instrumental in establishing this Fourth Republic, and as a party in government, we remain committed to ensuring the democratic process is upheld,” he said.
The Director of Communications expressed confidence in the NPP’s chances of winning the upcoming elections and stated that maintaining peace was crucial to ensuring the integrity of their anticipated victory. “We believe we will win this election, and we will not jeopardise that by engaging in activities that undermine peace,” he noted.
Mr. Ahiagbah also called on all political parties to prioritise Ghana’s welfare over partisan interests, adding, “This election is not just about political parties or individuals; it’s about Ghana. We must all work together to ensure that the country emerges victorious on December 7th.”
The NPP, as a signatory to the peace pact, reiterated its commitment to peaceful conduct, urging all stakeholders to follow suit to preserve Ghana’s democratic legacy.
