NPP Primaries: Delays and inconsistencies at Mallam Gbawe Cluster of Schools voting center

Police Personnel deployed to the Mallam-Gbawe Cluster of Schools voting center have maintained peace amidst some chaos, in the New Patriotic Party(NPP)’s Parliamentary primaries, ongoing today January 27, 2024 at the various Constituencies to elect Parliamentary Candidates for the various Constituencies.

There was chaos at the Mallam-Gbawe Cluster of Schools, a Constituency in the Weija-Gbawe Municipal where the voting is underway.

According to one of the Candidates, (name withheld) “the time which was scheduled for the voting was 7 am but as at 8 am, people were still not allowed to come in and vote but other people were allowed to go in which made me instruct my people to go inside”.

This created some agitation, however, the Police restored calm However, the police personnel deployed to the place ensured that the place was calm.

In an interview with GBC News, with some delegates, also lamented the delays in the start of the voting process.

“They told us the voting was behind at 7 am but it’s past 8 am and we are still waiting outside for the voting to begin,” a female voter said.

Nana Kwame, also stated that some people were allowed to go inside even though the voting process wasn’t ready which led to the chaotic start at the process at the Mallam Gbawe Cluster of Schools Voting Center.
