Some supporters of the governing NPP on July 20, 2023, massed up in front of the Alisa Hotel, in Accra where the National Executive Committee of the party was meeting to decide on whether or not to hold the Special College Election of the five flag bearer aspirants at a centralized venue or at the constituency or regional levels.
The supporters carrying placards and a banner had inscriptions supporting a centralized venue for the election.
With the in-party rivalry, political watchers are concerned about decisions that could create cracks in the party ahead of a crucial 2024 General Election.
