Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo is Vice Presidential Candidate to Twum-Barima Adu

Development Consultant, Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo, has been unveiled as Vice Presidential Candidate to Independent Presidential Candidate Twum-Barimah-Adu.

”It gives me the greatest pleasure to formally present my Vice-Presidential Candidate Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo to the Ghanaian public to complete my Presidential ticket for elections 2024”, as contained in a statement.

Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo has been described as being at the forefront of development scholarship and the practice of Development in Ghana, Africa and the world as a whole.

”His most outstanding professional legacy in Ghana was his pioneering establishment and consultant to the Suame Magazine Industrial Development Organization (SMIDO) which gained extensive international recognition and gradually evolved into a global model for cluster development in the informal economic sectors of the world”, the statement noted.

Mr. Twum Barimah Adu says he has known Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo since 2006 and keenly followed his professional exploits and views on global development in various subject areas, and it was part of this recognition that informed his choice of the Vice-Presidential Candidate to join ”my ticket to contest the 2024 elections of the Republic of Ghana”.

The state said ”Ghana is at the crossroads of a development crisis of historic magnitude which has become a tangible reality of which everyone is aware and whoever have this in mind would settle on a choice with the requisite intellectual depth and experience to navigate the current crisis, and not the current political circuses Ghana is being subjected to by NPP and NDC”.

A Twum-Barimah-Adu – Azongo Presidency is poised to inspire Global Excellence in Ghanaian Leadership towards developing Ghana’s first Development Consensus in resolving the current economic crisis, the existential environmental threat confronting our dear country and to ensure even and balanced development for the benefit of all.

Profile

Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo holds an MPhil Degree in Development Planning from KNUST after his Bachelor of Science Degree from the very same institution.
He was a Development Consultant to the National House of Chiefs from 2003 to 2011 and has a lot of publications on Chieftaincy and Development in Africa.

He has to his credit a publication on Chieftaincy and Development dubbed: System Approach to Development Planning in the Chieftaincy Sector” published for the National House of Chiefs in 2011 which has been extensively quoted by prominent Paramount Chiefs in the country during conferences on development in Ghana and Africa, Particularly Prof. John Nabila during the Royal African Sister Cities conference in Ghana. The Book was published to set the basis for the harnessing of chieftaincy institutional potential for sustainable development and to pilot a Ghanaian case for Traditional Authorities’ role in Development in Africa.

He was elected by Daasebre Prof. (Emeritus) Oti-Boateng, the late Paramount Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area, an international scholar and a former UN Commissioner to review his three publications on development; “Development in Unity: Compendium of Works of Daasebre Prof. (Emeritus) Oti-Boateng Volumes 1,2 & 3”. He was the guest speaker during the launch of Daasebre’s three books in 2019 which was chaired by no mean an icon than Prof. Emeritus Ivan Addai Mensah and had Prof. Stephen Addai Mensah then chair of the NDPC as the Guest of Honour.

His professional works gained significant national and international recognition after his groundbreaking work with Daasebre Prof. (Emeritus) Oti-Boateng, following the development of the Root-Based Economic Development (r-BED) Model which was presented at the 79th session of the UN International Civil Service Commission meeting in Rome, Italy to rally global leadership behind a New Development Model.

This Model was subsequently recognized by the State University of New York (SUNY) with the conferment of Award in recognition of the root Based Economic Development (r-BED) model.
In recognition of his sterling contribution to development knowledge he was awarded the Daasebre Excellence Award in Leadership.
He was the Special Guest during the launch of the Turtle, a project to build a special car for Africa as a partnership between Ghana and the Netherlands which became possible under his ingenuity and leadership.

He is the founder of Save Your Liver Foundation, a pioneering Liver health advocacy organization in Ghana, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa raising awareness and influencing policy priority on Liver health across Africa. The Foundation, (a member of the World Hepatitis Alliance) participated in the first global conference on viral hepatitis in Scotland in 2015. The foundation is a proud signatory to the Glasgow Declaration for the elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030 which subsequently informed the UN sustainable Development Goals on Hepatitis. Save your Liver Foundation currently has a presence in Nigeria, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia engineered from Ghana through his leadership and foresight. He founded the MOSES Foundation, a Pioneering Pan-African Old Students Leadership Institute. The first such Model in the World, designed to mobilize the Global Nation of old students in Building African Regional Cohesion for Sustainable Development, mobilizing for sustainable educational support in Africa, and inspiring global excellence in African leadership to influence the cause of Africa’s development.

He single-handedly brought on the MOSES Foundation Board a team of Eminent Ghanaians such as Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Dr. K.E Mensah-Abrampa, the Late Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Ken Ashigbey of the Media Coalition against Galamsey, Nana Kwame Duah, a member of the Right to Information Commission and Ishmael Agyekumhene of the PURC to champion a cause for inspiring Global Excellence in African leadership and Regional Cohesion for Development.
