Parliament has approved three ministerial nominees designated for Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Abla Dzifa Gomashie), Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment (George Opare-Addo), and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture (Emelia Arthur).
Whether to approve or not to be approved generated extensive debates on the floor of the House on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Mr. Opare-Addo’s role at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment aims to tackle challenges facing young people. These include employment, education, and empowerment programs.
On the other hand, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, a prominent advocate for arts and culture, is expected to enhance tourism by promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and increasing revenue.
While Madam Arthur is said to focus on improving sustainability and productivity in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Appointments Committee of Parliament vetted the nominees, assessing their qualifications and plans for the portfolios they have been assigned to.
