Parliament has approved the second group of ministerial nominees chosen by President John Dramani Mahama on January 21, 2025 after a thorough vetting and debate process.

The approved nominees are:

Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways
Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education
Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
The vetting, carried out by the Appointments Committee on Monday, January 20, 2025, examined the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and plans for their new roles.

After the vetting, the committee submitted its report to Parliament, leading to a debate on the nominees’ abilities and how they plan to address the country’s challenges.

Following the discussions, Members of Parliament voted to approve the nominees, allowing them to officially begin their duties.

Despite their successful approval as Ministers of state, Minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markins in a heated argument claims he does not trust the government intentions of refunding the fees of the first year students and also expressed his disappointment in the president for not selecting as many women to occupy ministerial positions.

This approval marks the first step in President Mahama’s efforts in a positive direction to form a strong team to deliver on his promises.
