Parliament will resume sitting from recess today, Tuesday, June 11, for the second meeting of the Fourth Session.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, abruptly adjourned the House on March 20, 2024, following a detailed response to a letter from the Presidency, which urged the House to cease transmitting the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, also known as the anti-gay Bill, to the President for assent.
On May 3, 2024, the Majority Caucus petitioned the Speaker for an urgent reconvening of the House to address crucial government business items, including the adoption of the Thirty-Fourth Report of the Appointments Committee and a motion on additional financing.
A letter from the Office of the Speaker has recalled Members of Parliament from recess, signaling the commencement of proceedings today.
