With its Congress just around the corner on Saturday, the People’s National Convention (PNC) has formally closed the nomination period for various positions, clearing the way for the aspirants to undergo vetting.

A two-day vetting process has been scheduled by the opposition party, with Thursday and Friday designated for the evaluation of the 17 candidates who have applied for various positions.

The vetting process will be conducted in two sessions: Thursday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for the first group, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for the second group.

Notable candidates include Bernard Anbataayela Mornah and David Apasera, who are vying for the flagbearer position.

Other positions being contested include National Organiser, with Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine as candidates; Women’s Organiser, with Christiana Fugah and Esther Osei; Youth Organiser, with Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen; and Treasurer, with Emmanuel Akazabre as the sole candidate.

Several candidates are also vying for deputy positions, including Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Organiser, and Deputy Women’s Organiser.

The Congress Committee expressed its commitment to a transparent, democratic, and successful vetting process, which will determine the party’s leadership ahead of its national congress.
