Police investigate fire at Kwashieman cluster of schools housing ballot boxes

The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service are investigating a fire that broke out on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in Accra.

The school facility is significant because it stores ballot boxes for the Ablekuma North Constituency.

In a statement, the Police assured the public that anyone found responsible for the fire would be arrested and prosecuted. They also urged Ghanaians to remain calm as investigations continue.

This fire incident follows post-election disturbances across the country. So far, the Police have arrested 132 suspects in connection with these disturbances. Out of the total, 45 suspects are in custody, 71 have been granted police bail, and 16 are on court bail.

Authorities have promised to maintain peace and called on the public to cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
