Artistic activist and writer, Akosua Hanson, has bemoaned the rate at which partisan politics is riding the country at a slow pace, saying it will be the death of Ghana.

She made this statement while contributing to discussions on the GTV Breakfast Show on December 9, 2022.

Ghana’s Majority Caucus in Parliament on Thursday, December 8, 2022, staged a walkout during a vote on censure to remove the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, from office after the report by the Ad-hoc Committee presented its final report to the House. The action by the Majority Caucus has triggered lots of reactions and discussions across media spaces in the country, and Miss Hanson added her voice on the Morning Show to the act, which some have described as not a good sign for Ghana’s democracy.

She said Parliamentarians must remember that they are representing their constituents, not themselves.

”What Ghanaian Parliamentarians rather focus on is to play party politics with issues that are of greater concern to the well-being of Ghanaians.”

This, she explains as actions that, are gradually sinking the dignity of the country Ghana.

She further expressed her disappointment in the way previous governments and the current government put party interests ahead of the will and wishes of ordinary Ghanaians.

Miss Hanson believes development will be elusive as long as Ghana remains ”trapped” in its party political line of thinking.
