President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reassured the nation of a transparent and peaceful election in December, dismissing allegations that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) intends to rig the polls.

He emphasised that election rigging is not part of the NPP’s DNA and that the party is committed to democracy and a fair process.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted his commitment to peaceful elections, stating that he came out of a peaceful election and will leave in a peaceful election.

He also pledged to ensure that security agencies are allowed to play their roles in safeguarding the peace and stability of the country.

The President made these remarks during the 13th Biennial and 51st Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Kumasi.

“The Akufo-Addo-led NPP is clear about its obligations and duty to ensure that the impending elections are conducted in an atmosphere of peace and security with full transparency and respect for the electoral laws of our country.

“I am confident that the security agencies will be alive to their responsibilities and will ensure that the freedom of the Ghanaian people and the choice of national leadership will be manifest, free of violence and intimidation.”

“It is the free will of the Ghanaian people, not the will of any candidate or political party no matter how desperate for power that will prevail on 7th December 2024,” he stated.
