President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo has extended an olive branch to the NDC and other political parties to work together with government following his election for a second four-year term in the December polls.

He said the results of the parliamentary election is a clear indication that Ghanaians want both the NDC and NPP MPs to work together for the development and growth of the nation.

In his acceptance speech at his Nima residence after he was declared winner in Monday’s keenly contested election, President Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to unite for the good of the country after a very divisive campaign.

President Akufo-Addo assured Ghanaians that he will work hard to ensure a prosperous nation for all. He said the decisive margin of his victory constitutes an endorsement of the policies and programs that the NPP administration has instituted over the past four years.

He said his immediate task is to put Ghana back on the path of recovery following the negative impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the nation.

He said before the pandemic struck, Ghana in recent years was one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. The President assured Ghanaians that the economy will regain that reputation.

President Akufo-Addo condemned post-election violence in some constituencies and called on NPP supporters to be decorous and modest in their well-deserved victory and celebrations.

While commending the EC for organizing successful elections and the Security agencies for an incident-free election.

President Akufo-Addo said post-election violence should not be tolerated.
