President John Dramani Mahama has taken his thank you tour to the Western Region. At a durbar of Chiefs and People of the region at Sekondi-Takoradi, President Mahama announced that an amendment will soon be made to the Public Holidays Act to make July 1, a public holiday again.
President Mahama said July 1 would become the National Prayer and Thanksgiving DAY. He assured the Chiefs and People of the Western region that he will not take for granted the confidence reposed in him and will work diligently to reset Ghana.
The Omanhen of Esikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia called on the President to vigorously fight the galamsey menace. He pledged the support of the Chiefs and People of the region in the fight. Nana Kobina Nketia expressed utmost support for the President’s Operation Recover All Loot, ORAL.
President Mahama acknowledged the efforts by health officials to contain the cholera outbreak in parts of the region and advised the people to take issues of their hygiene especially the sources of their drinking water and food seriously.
