The NDC’s 2020 running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang, has presented assorted food items and beverages to Muslims in the Central Region.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the visits and donations are to support “our Muslim family and also to stand in solidarity with them” for a successful Ramadan fast.
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was at the Cape Coast Central Mosque to celebrate the festival of breaking the fast with Muslims. She presented bags of rice, maize, sugar, beans, boxes of cooking oil, tomato paste, drinks and other groceries to the people.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang interacted with the Regional Chief Imam and elders of the Muslim community at the Central Mosque on the essence of Ramadan which is peace, love and inclusiveness, encouraging them to always uphold these.
She also relayed season’s greetings on behalf of former President John Mahama to the people. The elders also offered prayers and recitations for the entire umbrella family and the nation as a whole.
Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang again encouraged the Muslim community to refrain from any activity that does not promote national unity.
The people were grateful for the gesture and thanked Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her unflinching love and continuous support to the Islamic community across the country and especially Cape Coast. They encouraged her to continue with her philanthropic efforts since that is one of the pillars of Islam that the Bible also encourages.
Prof Opoku Agyemang was joined by the MP for Cape Coast South, Mr. George Ricketts-Hagan, and some NDC Central Regional officers.
