13 Presidential Candidates were disqualified by the EC in 2016 while 5 candidates got the nod to contest in the election 4 years ago.
This year, the EC has accepted the nomination of 12 Presidential Candidates with 5 others disqualified. This means some candidates who were disqualified in 2016 have qualified to contest in this year’s election.
GBC’s Radio Ghana has been speaking to some of such candidates to find out what they did differently to enable them to qualify this time. The parties expressed gratitude to the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Mensa for increasing the number of days for filing which according to them contributed to their qualification.
Flagbearer of the APC, Hassan Ayariga told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that he is still against the compilation of a new voters’ register, despite commending the leadership of the current EC for doing a good job.
Flagbearer of the GCPP, Dr. Henry Lartey said he learnt from his mistakes in 2016.
National Secretary of the PPP, Paa Kow Ackom was also happy to have been given an opportunity by the EC to rectify certain issues on the forms which was denied the party in 2016.
Flagbearer of the LPG, Kofi Akpaloo said his party expected nothing short of qualification after being disqualified three times.
