Residents of Ahafo Ano North Constituency, Tepa, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, are calling on the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency (H.E.) John Dramani Mahama, to consider appointing Mr. Richard Merz as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Municipality.
According to the residents, the aspiring MCE has, over the years, demonstrated immense commitment and hard work within the party’s ranks.
They believe he is well-equipped with extensive experience, having served as the constituency deputy secretary, secretary, vice chairman, and parliamentary candidate (PC) aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), among other notable positions, making him the best candidate for the role.
These sentiments were shared with UTV News Ghana following his successful vetting on Thursday, January 9, 2025, for the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assembly (MMDCE) positions at the NDC party headquarters in the Ashanti Region.
During the vetting process, he was subjected to rigorous questioning on his plans and vision for the constituency. The residents highlighted his long-standing dedication to youth development in the district, asserting that appointing him as the MCE would empower him with the authority and resources to address the needs of the young population.
“He is a transparent person. He interacts with us on a personal level and provides the necessary information. He listens to our concerns, and we trust that he is the best person the President can appoint,” one resident affirmed.
To them, Richard Merz is a leader who respects all individuals, regardless of political affiliation, an essential trait for the constituency’s future.
A resident also recalled how the aspiring MCE contributed to unity and peaceful coexistence during the recent general elections, underscoring the importance of appointing him to office to make a meaningful impact on society. Additionally, they emphasised that, compared to other aspirants, he possesses the humility that fosters development and progress.
“Our brother Richard Merz and Richmond are both competing for the position. I would welcome whoever the President deems fit for the job,” another resident remarked. They are therefore making a passionate appeal to H.E. John Dramani Mahama to heed the people’s voice and appoint a leader well-versed in youth development who can effectively translate the NDC’s vision to the people of Ahafo Ano North Constituency, Tepa, in the Ashanti Region.
