President John Dramani Mahama has named Samuel Nartey George as the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation in his latest cabinet appointments.

Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, will oversee the development of policies and programs to advance Ghana’s digital economy and spearhead technological and innovation reforms. Known for his vocal stance on national issues, George is a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Educational and Professional Background

Sam George holds a BSc in Agricultural Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Bachelor of Law from the University of London. He also earned an MSc in International Strategy and Diplomacy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2022.

Before entering politics, he worked as an engineer and development consultant, contributing to national and community projects. His political career has been marked by advocacy on issues such as governance, youth empowerment, and social reforms.

President Mahama’s new appointments include:

Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo as Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Adjei Kenneth Gilbert as Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources.

Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum as Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu as Minister of State in charge of Government Communications.

Issifu Seidu as Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability.

These appointments, announced on January 21, 2025, by Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, aim to bolster President Mahama’s government in addressing key national challenges.
