Minister designate for the Savannah Region, Salifu Braimah has refuted suggestions that his appointment is a compensation for the people of Salaga, which missed out on being named capital for the newly created region.
Youth of the town went on the rampage and destroyed public property including burning the NPP office after the President announced Damango as the Regional capital.
Answering a question from a member of the appointments committee, Mr Braimah said his appointment has nothing to do with the demonstration.
He said, that could have meant a reward for hooliganism. He told the committee that he will be working with chiefs from all the areas to ensure peace in the region.
Also vetted were the Deputy Minister designate for Aviation, Yaw Afful and Deputy Minister designate for the Bono Region, Siaka Stevens.
Mr. Stevens was forced to withdraw an earlier allegation he made that the then NDC government diverted Mahindra pick ups procured for the education service for political campaigns.
This was after MP for North Tongu and former deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa challenged him.
