Seven assembly members inducted into office

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama has inducted into office seven Assembly Members of the newly created Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly as part of its inauguration in Accra.

Hajia Mahama presented the Constitutional Instrument 2018, LI 2376 of the creation of the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly on behalf of the President to the Chairman of the occasion Lord Commey on behalf of the Municipality.

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Mahama said the creation of the Municipality is part of the decentralisation programme to ensure grassroot participation in governance to improve the livelihoods of the people.

Hajia Mahama tasked the Assembly to intensify revenue mobilization for speedy development even though the Local Government Ministry has allocated ¢2 million to the Assembly for take off.

Hajia Alima on behalf of other stakeholders presented three trucks, tricycles,computers and furniture to the Assembly.

The Ablekuma Central Municipality has an estimated population of 274,990. It has seven electoral areas which include Abossey Okai, Mataheko, Mambrouk and Latebiokorshie which is the capital of the Municipality.

With its new status, Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly is now autonomous of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly
