Opposition Members of Parliament have cautioned President John Dramani Mahama to be candid about the state of the country he inherited from the erstwhile NPP government ahead of his maiden State of the Nation Address (SONA) slated for Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Speaking to journalists in Parliament, the minority NPP MPs highlighted key issues, including employment, the economy, and the power crisis, which they believe the president must address transparently.
Mr. Akwasi Konadu (Manhyia North MP), Mr. Kofi Amankwah Manu (Atwima Kwanwoma MP), and Mr. Collins Adomako Mensah (Afigya Kwabre North) maintained they expect President Mahama to speak honestly about these critical matters.
They urged the president to provide clarity on the state of the country as he takes office for his second term.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sebastian Deh (MP for Kpando) and Madam Lawrencia Dziwornu (Akuapem South MP), both from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), believe that President Mahama’s address will inspire hope and outline his vision for the “Resetting Ghana Agenda”.
According to them, they are optimistic that President Mahama will use his speech to present a clear path forward for Ghana’s future.
