The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin will today October 26, 2022 give his ruling on the preliminary objection raised by the Majority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on the report of the Committee of Privileges on the absence of the Member of Parliament, MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The Committee, by a majority decision recommended that madam Adwoa Safo’s seat be declared vacant for absenting herself from Parliament for more than 42 days without permission from the Speaker.

Just before the House went on recess, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu wanted the House to adopt the report and take a decision on the fate of the MP.

The Speaker, however, deferred judgement on the matter.

In welcoming members from recess yesterday, October 25, 2022, Mr. Bagbin highlighted the importance of representation of the people by an MP and said he will finally give his ruling on the issue.
