A total of 832,383 eligible voters are expected to cast ballots at 1,881 polling stations in the impending referendum that will determine the creation of the Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
The constitutionally mandated exercise, to be conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) is scheduled for Thursday December 27, 2018, and according to the EC, voting is expected to begin from 0700 hours to 1700 hours.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, the Acting Bono-Ahafo Regional Director of the EC, Frank Nunoo, said all voting materials had already been dispatched to the referendum areas in the region.
He said all was set for the exercise, adding that, the commission had worked on and issued accreditation to media organisatons in the region to cover the exercise without difficulties.
In a breakdown, Mr. Nunoo said 307,108 including special voters were expected to vote at 688 polling stations at Ahafo, whilst 525,275 of them would cast their ballots at 1,193 polling stations in Bono East.
Final results for the Bono-East elections will be collated at the Bonokyempem hall at Techiman whilst that of the Ahafo would be collated at the Nana Osei Kofi Abre hall at Kenyasi number one.
The proposed Bono East and Ahafo regions will cover 11 and six Districts and Municipalities respectively.
