The President of the 73rd UN General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces has admitted that lack of effective communication between the UN and its member states is a setback to efforts being made to achieve the universal SDGs by 2030.

She said though the UN is doing a lot to reduce global challenges in every way, their interventions and policies have not been deeply explained to member states.

This, she said is making some countries ask questions about the importance and benefits of multilateralism as promoted by the UN.

Ms Garces was speaking at a media briefing in Accra on the first day of her three-day working visit to Ghana. This forms part of her visit to three African countries namely Ghana, Nigeria and Chad.

Ms Garces said the UN is doing a lot to solve global problems and lauded Ghana for giving the system of multilateralism a boost.
