The University of Education Winneba (UEW) Chapter of University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) says it is not surprised at the induction of the new Vice Chancellor.
President of the chapter, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong told GBC’s Ibrahim Kwateng in an interview that the laws have been clearly flouted by the President.
Meanwhile, a Private Legal practitioner, Yaw Oppong says President Akufo-Addo should have allowed the pending legal issues at the law court on the legibility of the Vice Chancellorship of the University of Education, Winneba, to be determined, before appointing a new Vice Chancellor.
Lawyer Oppong was reacting to the President’s attendance at the investiture and induction of the new Vice Chancellor for the University of Education, Winneba, UEW, Professor Anthony Afful Broni.
But speaking at the investiture, President Akufo-Addo said stakeholders acted within the confines of the law to ensure that UEW has a substantive leadership to help it achieve the goals for which it was established.
He urged the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Education- Winneba, Very Reverend Father Anthony Afful-Broni, to use his high office to forge unity among the rank and file of the University Management.
“That is the only way to put the controversy surrounding the University behind all,” he said.
He also assured teachers that government will not put any impediments in their line of duties.
