Former president of Ghana and 2024 flagbearer hopeful for the National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama, says the NDC needs to be voted into power in order to hold the New Patriotic Party, NPP, accountable for their eight years stay in power.
Former President, Mahama who was in the Fanteakwa–South Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana while on his campaign tour, said it is tantamount for the ruling NPP to be ousted come 2024.
He said the NPP wants to continue their stay in power just to sweep their eight years mismanagement of the economy under the carpet therefore, the only way to hold them accountable is a victory for the NDC.
He further admonished the party’s branch executives to put in more efforts in ensuring that the NDC secures victory in 2024.
He admitted that, prior to 2016 elections, though all was not rosy for Ghanaians under his regime, it was far better than what the nation is currently experiencing under the NPP administration.
He bemoaned the lack of fertilizer for cocoa farmers in the country and the skyrocketing prices of goods in the country. He touted the NPP as a failure with regard to their campaign promises and taglines during the 2016 and 2020 elections respectively.
Mr. Mahama further appealed to the delegates in the constituency to vote for him to lead the umbrella family to victory come May 13th, 2023 during the party’s parliamentary and presidential primaries.
