A joint committee of the Council of Elders and Political Committee of the NDC in the Volta Region has announced that it will ensure that citizens of the region are protected from intimidation ahead of this year’s general election.
The Committee said it will use all legal means necessary to ensure that eligible citizens in the region are not disenfranchised in the ongoing voter registration.
At a media briefing in Ho, a member of the Council, Dan Abodakpi expressed reservations about reports of acts of intimidation against some citizens by security personnel deployed to secure the country’s borders from illegal entry.
Mr Abodakpi said such development is divisive and jeopardizes the unity among the diverse ethnic groups in the country.
Party stalwarts such as former Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adzaho, former Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani, Volta Regional executives of the party among others were present at the event.
