A group calling itself ‘Friends of Rashid Pelpuo’ has called on the Member of Parliament for Wa Central Dr. Rashid Pelpuo to listen to pleas of the youth and other members of the party to avail himself to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as parliamentary candidate for election 2020.

They posited that if the constituency is to continue enjoying the development it has seen in recent times, there is a need to maintain Dr. Pelpuo as MP.

At a press conference to declare their support for the 2020 candidature of Dr. Pelpuo, Convener of the group, Ing Iddrisu Ansuar-deen Nanjo explained that Dr. Pelpuo is the best choice for the NDC saying “as 2020 is approaching, one task that we need to perform as a party is to get a credible candidate to hold our flag in the constituency.”

“We look forward to the future to use our abilities and resources to create a constituency that offers opportunities for all. And in order to achieve that, we need a calm, sober, mature, humble and resilient leadership which will be provided by Dr. Rashid Pelpuo,” he added.

Ing Ansuar-deen Nanjo used the opportunity to remind party faithful of some of the projects that have been undertaken between January 2017 and December 2018.

“In the area of education, Dr. Pelpuo gave an amount of ten thousand Ghana-Cedis to Northern Star SHS to support a PTA initiated classroom project. He also gave an amount of five thousand Ghana-cedis to start the rehabilitation of an outdoor kitchen at Wa SHS and supported the construction of a storm drain at Fongo E/A school among others.”

“In the area of health, the honorable member gave five thousand Ghana-Cedis to support the Regional Hospital and another five thousand Ghana Cedis to support the Wa Nursing Training College while renovating the Nyagli CHPS compound,” he pointed out.

The Convener of ‘Friends of Rashid Pelpuo’ also listed cash and in kind support the Member of Parliament for Wa Central had given to other organisations across different sectors including water and sanitation, agriculture and entertainment.

Ing Ansuar-deen Nanjo called on the rank and file of the party to “forge ahead united as a party and hold in high esteem the things that unite us rather than those that divide us and demonstrate to the world that Wa Central Constituency is the beacon of hope in the region [Upper West Region].”
