The Minister of Inner City and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid says government is poised to initiate and implement pragmatic policies that will address the various challenges facing Muslim communities hence the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund.

This notwithstanding, Muslim parents must live up to the responsibility imbibed in them by Allah, by ensuring that their children attain the highest academic level possible to become productive citizens.

Dr. Mustapha Hamid was speaking at a durbar to climax the 60th Annual National Conference of the Ghana Muslim Mission in Kumasi which focused on, “Empowering and Equipping Muslims for Sustainable Development”.

Alhaji Mustapha Hamid reminded Muslims that they are obliged to accommodate other religions, to learn to unite and forgive one another to achieve sustainable development since the Quran preaches good neighbourliness.

He bemoaned the prevalence and increase in religious conflicts with its effect on the society. He lauded the Ghana Muslim Mission for consolidating peace among the various religious bodies.

The Chairman of the National Hajj Board, Sheikh I.C Quaye appealed to Muslims to use the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen their faith in Allah and commitment towards peace.

He noted that it is only through honesty that the country can resolve its socio-economic challenges.

Sheikh I.C Quaye announced the visit of Islamic spiritual leader, Sudaise from Saudi Arabia to join scores of Muslim scholars next month for an international conference in Ghana.

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketiah urged government to complete all educational infrastructure started by former president Mahama’s government to curb the accommodation problem that is posing a challenge to the increasing student population as a result of free SHS education.

The National chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission, Sheikh Dr. Aminu Bonsu disclosed that due to the infrastructure deficit in Islamic and Arabic education at the basic and SHS levels, the mission is in the process of establishing four Colleges of education in Beposo in Ashanti, Kukuom in the Brong Ahafo, Buipe in the Northern region and Donkorkrom in the Eastern region.
