The Presbyterian church of Ghana has inducted Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, as Moderator to steer the affairs of the church for the next five next years.
The induction ceremony which took place at Akropong Presbyterian Grace Congregation church in the Eastern Region brought together religious leaders from other churches, politicians, traditional leaders and Diplomatic Missionaries from Italy, U.S.A, Germany, Korea and United Kingdom.
The Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante was born on November 9, 1957. He holds two masters degrees in theology and in philosophy of religion and PhD in systematic theology and philosophy of religion.
He has trained pastors and lectured for the past 24 years at trinity theological seminary Legon and served as the academic Dean at Trinity Theological Seminary. Rt. Rev. Obiri Yeboah has served on the boards of 21 organizations.
He has been a minister of the Presbyterian church of Ghana since 1981 and once served as the presbytery chairperson in the Akuapem Presbytery.
He has held pastoral positions in Presbyterian churches in Adum (Kumasi), Obuasi, Legon and California.
A former Moderator, Very Rev. Dr. Sam Prempeh, in a sermon congratulated him for his elevation to that highest office of the church.
He urged him to discharge his duty with confidence and due diligent to help move the church forward. He also charged him to work with the constitution of the church to achieve his purpose.
The Chief of Staff, Freman Osei Opare underscored the importance of the church in inculcating discipline in the youth. She added that government will continue to partner the church for the accelerated development of the nation.
The Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, in his address thanked everybody home and Abroad for their unflinching support and prayers for his pastoral career.
He maintained that the house of the Lord is not an entertainment theater but should be a place to transform life.
He said he will establish young Presbyterian missionary to help groom the youth in the church.
He urged all Ghanaians to exhibit high sense of moral integrity in the country.
