President John Dramani Mahama‘s nominee for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi West Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region, Mr. Prosper Addo, has been confirmed by Assembly Members.
Mr. Prosper Addo who is also the Oti Regional treasure for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured 100% yes votes.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Addo expressed his gratitude to President Mahama and pledged to work closely with the Assembly Members to drive development in the Krachi West Municipality.

Key challenges within the municipality he plans to tackle immediately include ensuring a reliable energy source for residents and businesses, implementing initiatives to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth, and finding sustainable solutions to meet the community’s water needs
To tackle the challenges, the newly confirmed MCE has appealed to all stakeholders to put their differences aside and come onboard for the betterment of the municipality.
He explained that Assembly Members and all other stakeholders are crucial to the development of the assembly and believes that Krachi West Municipality’s rapid development can be attained through collaborative efforts.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Krachi West Constituency, Madam Helen Adwoa Ntoso, has also promised to work hand-in-hand with the MCE and the Assembly to fast-track the municipality’s development.
This partnership is expected to bring about positive change and progress to the Municipality. However, the MP was not happy with the low women involvement in decision making in the Oti Region.
According to the former Volta Regional Minister, many women possess both the opportunity and the passion to engage in politics; however, what often holds them back is a lack of confidence and boldness.
To encourage greater female participation in politics and decision-making at all levels, the MP has advocated for the appointment of more women to key positions within the Krachi West Municipal Assembly.
The MP is therefore urging women across the Oti Region to step forward and actively participate in decision-making processes. By doing so, they can contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of Ghana and building the nation they all envision.
