Rafatu Inusah has been elected as the new President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for the next four years. Inusah, a former Board Member, contested unopposed and takes over from Herbert Mensah, who is now President of Africa Rugby. With her extensive background as an athlete, coach and administrator, Inusah is well-equipped to lead Ghana Rugby into a new era.

Inusah’s vision for Ghana Rugby is clear: “We are going to tirelessly work together to make sure that Ghana Rugby is well represented. I am happy and proud of all of us, not myself and very humbled”; said Inusah. Inusah will be supported by Vice-President Emmanuel Bamfi and together they will work towards revitalizing Ghana Rugby and ensuring a stronger representation on the continental stage.

The elections, which drew the presence of key stakeholders, including World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert and the acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, also saw the election of new board members. Prince Kwaku, Emmanuel Kalos, Abdul Saeed Samed and SaCut Amenga-Etego were all elected unopposed, with Anita Atieku taking up the role of Women’s Representative.

As Inusah begins her tenure, she inherits a union with a strong foundation laid by her predecessor, Herbert Mensah. Mensah’s leadership saw Ghana Rugby become a full member of World Rugby in 2017 and Rugby Africa. Inusah’s challenge will be to build on this momentum and take Ghana Rugby to even greater heights.

With her experience and passion for the sport, Inusah is poised to make a significant impact on Ghana Rugby. As she embarks on this new chapter, she carries the hopes and expectations of the Ghanaian rugby community, and her success will be eagerly anticipated.
