The Sefwi Wiawso District of the Forestry Commission has announced that the menace of illegal chainsaw operations has been reduced by 80 percent.
The Outgoing Manager of Sefwi Wiawso Forest District, Nana Poku Bosompim, said this in an interview at Bosomoiso in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region.
He said the Commission has also strengthened its monitoring mechanism with three Rapid Response Teams at Nsawora, Asawinso and a community near Sefwi Bekwai.
That apart, the Forest Commission has also initiated an afforestation project which have been extended to school parks, hospitals and rivers.
